Build a Spiritual Direction Practice without the Overwhelm

Practical support for spiritual directors who want to build a practice that can hold both their calling and their life.

Practical coaching to help spiritual directors build a professional, values-aligned practice with clarity, confidence, and care.

You’ve completed your training.
You’ve started seeing people.
And still… your practice feels fragile.

Maybe you’re using your personal email address.
Maybe payments are coming in through Zelle or PayPal.
Maybe you’re manually scheduling sessions and keeping track of things in your head.

Maybe you’re unsure what you should be keeping records of — or how to handle intake in a way that feels professional and ethical.
Maybe pricing feels uncomfortable or confusing.
Maybe you’re unsure how to share about your work — or feel hesitant about putting yourself out there at all.

Maybe you’re not sure how to build something that could support more people — without becoming overwhelming.

You know you’re called to this work.
And you’re tired of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to build something that can actually last.

You don’t need more inspiration.

You need a clear, values-aligned plan — and steady forward momentum.

You’re Not Doing Anything Wrong

If this feels familiar, it’s not because you’re failing — it’s because most spiritual directors are deeply formed for the work itself, but not for the realities of running a practice.

Add to that:

  • Guilt or discomfort around charging for spiritual care

  • Limited confidence with systems or technology

  • A desire to keep things simple and values-aligned

  • Life transitions or second-career realities

…and it makes sense that things feel overwhelming.

The problem isn’t your calling.

The problem is the lack of structure, clarity, and support in building a sustainable practice.

If you’re looking for a clear, values-aligned way forward, you’re in the right place.

Who This is For

This coaching is designed for spiritual directors who find themselves in an in-between space:

  • You’ve started seeing people, but you don’t yet feel established

  • You’re doing the work, but the container around it feels shaky

  • You want your practice to be professional without becoming “businessy” or misaligned

  • You’re ready for a clear roadmap instead of endless researching and second-guessing

If that’s you, you’re in the right place.

Hi! I’m Nicole

I help spiritual directors build sustainable practices — practices that can support both their calling and their real lives.

I’m a trained spiritual director with a background in operations and organizational leadership. For nearly two decades, I’ve worked in mission-driven environments where meaningful work often depends on clear structures to remain sustainable.

Over time, I noticed how many spiritual directors were navigating the practical side of their work alone — figuring out systems, boundaries, pricing, and structure without much support.

My work brings these two worlds together: honoring the depth of spiritual direction while helping directors build practices that are clear, ethical, and sustainable.

In short:
I understand calling, and I understand structure — from the inside out.

A Practical Framework for Building Your Practice

Rather than assuming a one-size-fits-all starting point, we work through a clear framework that balances discernment and action — meeting you where you are and helping you move forward with confidence. The goal is not just to get things set up, but to build a practice that can adapt, expand, or simplify as your capacity changes.

Some clients come with very little in place. Others have pieces already set up but want things to feel clearer, more integrated, or easier to maintain.

This work adapts to your starting point while keeping a steady sense of direction. Below you’ll find the areas we will work through.

  • We begin by grounding your practice in clarity and intention — not tactics or tools.

    We’ll explore:

    • The values that guide your practice

    • Who you are truly called to serve (and who you are not)

    • What kind of practice fits your real life — not an idealized version

Whether this is your first time naming these things or a chance to refine them, this step creates a foundation everything else can rest on.

    Outcome:
A clear, grounded vision you can actually build from — and return to when decisions arise.

  • Next, we look at the structure around your work — not to add complexity, but to reduce friction and mental load.

Together, we assess what you already have in place and clarify, simplify, or strengthen it where needed.

    We may work on:

    • Email, scheduling, and payment flow

    • Intake and basic communication

    • Reducing decision fatigue around logistics

For some, this means setting things up for the first time.

For others, it means streamlining, automating, or integrating what already exists. When helpful, we look at automations or integrations that reduce ongoing effort and make growth more sustainable.

    Outcome:
A practice that feels more stable, professional, and easier to manage — without requiring you to become “techy.”

  • With enough structure in place, we turn to money — thoughtfully and without pressure.

    We’ll work on:

    • Pricing clarity and confidence

    • Practical ways to track income and expenses

    • Aligning compensation with your values and capacity

    This may include:

    • Establishing or refining how money flows through your practice

    • Simplifying tracking or bookkeeping

    • Adjusting pricing language so it feels honest and sustainable

    Outcome:
Less anxiety, more clarity, and a healthier relationship with compensation.

  • This is not about doing more marketing — it’s about doing what actually fits.

    We’ll focus on:

    • How people currently find you (or could)

    • What level of visibility is appropriate for this season

    • Language that reflects your vision without feeling performative

    This may involve:

    • Clarifying or refining a simple website or page

    • Thoughtfully using directories or referrals

    • Letting go of visibility strategies that don’t serve you

    Outcome:
Visibility that feels aligned, grounded, and sustainable.

  • As your practice takes shape, boundaries help it remain livable.

    We’ll clarify:

    • Work hours and availability

    • Capacity and number of directees

    • What you say yes to — and what you don’t

These boundaries evolve as your practice does, and we focus on making them realistic and supportive.

    Outcome:
A practice that supports longevity and sustainability.

  • Finally, we zoom out to the broader ecosystem around your practice.

    We’ll look at:

    • What support helps you stay grounded and resourced

    • How supervision, peer connection, and rest fit into sustainability

    • Where you may be carrying more than is yours to hold

    Outcome:
A practice that supports you, not just the people you serve.

How We Work Through This Framework

Building a sustainable spiritual direction practice rarely happens all at once.

Some directors need help clarifying their next step. Others want deeper guidance as they build the structures of their practice over time.

There are two ways we can work together depending on the level of support you’re looking for.

Ways We Can Work Together

Practice Clarity Session
$197.00

A focused 90-minute session to help you clarify your next steps and create momentum in your practice.

3-Month Coaching Partnership
$797.00

Ongoing support as you build the structure and systems for a sustainable spiritual direction practice.

Building a Sustainable Spiritual Direction Practice

The Core Coaching Package

  • 6 one-on-one coaching sessions over 3 months

  • 50-minute sessions

  • 30-minute pre-session review, so our time together stays focused, grounded, and actionable

At the end of each session, we’ll identify clear, doable next steps — not busywork — tailored to where you are and what feels realistic to take on before we meet again.

This is a contained, intentional process.
You don’t need a five-year plan — you need the next right structure that can grow with you.

What You’ll Walk Away With

By the end of our work together, you’ll have:

  • A simple, sustainable practice structure that can support growth — whether that means more clients, clearer boundaries, or more ease

  • Clear next steps, instead of lingering uncertainty or constant second-guessing

  • Greater confidence around charging for your work, with language and structure that feel ethical and aligned

  • Systems that support your calling, rather than drain your energy

  • A sense of steady momentum, not just good intentions or half-finished plans

You’ll spend less time wondering what to do next — and more time building something that feels solid, ethical, and aligned with your real life.

Note: What This Coaching Is — and Isn’t

This coaching is: Practical, structured, forward-moving. It is not: Spiritual direction, supervision, or therapy

These distinctions help keep the work focused, ethical, and effective — and ensure you receive the kind of support you’re actually seeking.

If you’re not quite ready for coaching…

If you’re feeling drawn to this work but not quite ready to commit to coaching, you’re not behind — and you’re not doing it wrong.

Inside, you’ll explore the six foundations that help you as a spiritual director build a practice that is sustainable and aligned with your season of life.
